After work on Thursday (wednesday night to be exa…

After work on Thursday (wednesday night to be exact), we left at 7am for Toronto to renew Deb’s passport and get her last name changed. We hit morning rush hour but eventually made it to Yorkdale where we caught the subway. We took the subway to the embassy but realized that we needed passport photos of Debra for the application. We searched up and down the street and eventually found a Kodak shop, that didn’t open until 10am. It was 9:30am. So we waited…. and waited…. 9:45… 9:55….10…. 10:05…. 10:15…. 10:30… OK THATS IT! The sign says 10am weekdays, maybe there was fine print at the bottom. Nope, 10am. We eventually found this convenience store close to the consulate that does passport photos. We arrived at the consulate, made it through the barrage of security checks and got in line. We were actually quite surprised at how short the wait was. We were expecting to relive the nighmares of getting my replacement birth certificate. It was actually quite the painless procedure, well, except the whole payment thing. After we were done with the paperwork we headed back to the kodak shop to get a look at the man who made us wait out in the cold. We entered the shop and I went up to the counter to meet the heartless soul.

So, what time do you open on weekdays?

I asked

10am everyday

was his smug reply

Right at 10? You sure?

He seemed quite certain, apparently oblivious to his late entrance only 4 hours previous. Maybe he tripped over a tri-pod, knocking himself unconcious and getting amnesia. It’s the only thing I can think of.
