EXCITING DAY!

We have had such an exciting, unusual day today! This morning started off pretty slow. We woke up a bunch of times to the phone (since we didn’t get to sleep until about 5 am). Norm got up first and did some things… and I slowly got out of bed and read a bit from a John Grisham book I am reading. The day was quite dreary out… raining and starting to freeze… (very strange since last week was HOT) While I was getting ready to head out to Durham to go see my grandma and uncle, Norm took a peek at the gerbils. Norm said “Hi Espresso,” which we always do because she is very elusive. But he paused and said wait a minute!!! Espresso’s eyes are shut and she is SMALL! “DEBRA THEY HAD BABIES!!!!” Then of course I ran over and immediately started screaming with excitement! Then I saw a little baby that looked like Skeeter! WOW! We are so thrilled… We didn’t think they would ever have babies! We named the 2 light colored ones the Twins because they look like, nothing else but TWINS! The pitch black one is Sumatra because we wanted to name them coffee names since the mom’s name is Espresso. Sumatra is a very dark and bold coffee…same with our little baby gerbil “dark and bold.” Then we named the one like Espresso Verona, because it is a lighter coffee!

As the day went on we mournfully left the gerbils to head to Durham! It had already been a crazy day… but as we drove further north the rain turned into a full on snow storm! My goodness! What a weird day!

Don’t worry we will continue to post more pics of the babies and update you as they grow!
Bye for now
Debra

On this day..
