Ok, so it wasn’t that bad, but it was definitely weird. After church, Debra and I went over to mom and dad’s for lunch, it’s been fun living close to them (though I’m sure mom has noticed that her food is going faster). While we were there, Dad had me help him carry a freezer into the basement. As were starting, huge black clouds started rolling in, and in no time there was a very sudden torrential rain storm. We managed to get the freezer close to the back door. Just as we got into the doorway there was the biggest, loudest bang we’d EVER heard. The lightening had just struck in our yard, and very close to us too. It was hard to tell exactly where, but I saw the lightening at eye level….. crazy…. My ears were ringing and I had this weird sick feeling in my gut. Mom and Debra had been inside and said it had even nearly given them a heart attack. Mom’s land line was totally fried by the lightening…. we called Bell on her cell, but she won’t get the line back until Thursday! The storm was over just like that and soon the rained winded down to a light shower. It was a weird experience. The saying came to mind ‘lightening never strikes the same place twice’, but then I was also reminded of the movie ‘The War of the Worlds’ which we had seen the night before where lightening was repeatedly striking the same place as the aliens prepared to invade. Anyways, if you need to get in contact with mom this week, email and home phone is out of the question, email me and I can give you her cell number.
