76 days to go!

Canaan is due in 76 days! Yippie. Its been a pretty rough go so far, but also very exciting. The pregnancy would be a lot better if it wasn’t for my kidney condition, which makes daily life miserable. But on the bright side, it is so fun to feel him kicking and moving around. We have started setting up the baby room. We had an awesome baby shower while in California. Our friends were so generous and really provided for some huge needs. We set up the playpen (his crib) when we got home on Wednesday. So much fun. Although its pretty annoying to only be able to set up his room for a few minutes at a time and have to lay down. =) Oh well. We got home late Wednesday and did a couple things and headed to bed around 1am (we are still on Pacific time zone). Then we had to get up at 7:30 for my weekly kidney ultrasounds, blood tests, and urine tests. Then of course we came home and went back to bed. At around 2 I got up and we drove to Owen Sound to get my blood drawn again. I had my prenatals retested (I guess they do that around now in the pregnancy) and I needed to be tested for antibodies, since I am blood type O-. I have to get a shot next week called Rhogam. That keeps my blood from attacking Canaan’s blood if he has a + blood type. So now I have two little holes in the same vein!

Well, now we are just starting to get unpacked and settled in. We aren’t adjusting back to the time yet, and not feeling that good. But we will get settled in eventually. Starting this Sunday we will be staying at my Aunt and Uncle’s house (Humphreys). We will be house sitting until the 24th! Yeah running water! Ok talk to you all later!

WOW! Deb, I can’t believe you only have 76 days left! I’m sure you’ll be feeling much better when it’s over. Glad to hear you had a good Christmas. I don’t know if I missed something but what caused the kidney problems? Is it simply the extra stress on your body from the pregnancy? Should all be resolved once you deliver? I will continue to pray for you!

Well, the kidney problem is called Hydronephrosis. This happens when the baby is squishing the ureter that drains the kidney, which brings along a ton of back up and even more pain! I have to lay down as much as possible and only in specific positions… Oh well! Thanks for asking. You can look back at some of our old posts that explain it better! =)
