Stretch and Sweep

Hello all! This afternoon our midwife came by to “sweep” my membranes. There are many names for this procedure… “stripping the membranes” “stretch and sweep.” No matter. =) So she explained everything to us. Just so you know… the first, second times don’t always work, actually they don’t always work all together. =) It was pretty uncomfortable, painful. But it was worth it knowing I am actually doing something to encourage our little one to come out and say hi! Mel (our midwife) also brought Caulophyllum, a homeopathic remedy to tone your uterus or make contractions regular. I take this 4 times a day for 3 days and then 3 days off… We had a really good visit. Mel stayed for about an hour, we chatted for most of it. I love having a midwife I am so comfortable with and enjoy! =) God is good. Now we are praying that I will go into labor sometime while she is on call! She is off call tomorrow and then on call from Friday to Sunday, then on Thursday she will be back on. (Hope that isn’t tooooo confusing!) Thanks everyone on checking up on us. We will be very prompt at letting you all know when things happen weather it’s this week or not for another few weeks!
~Debra

P.S. Mel said that I am 1.5 -2 cm dialated and something like 50% effaced… for those of you who know this pregnancy lingo stuff! =)

On this day..

It’s time to give that baby an eviction notice! Keep active, like long walks, sex, etc. I remember 2 days before I had Rachel I took down all of the wallpaper in the bathroom and taped the livingroom so that it was ready to be painted. I check on your blog pretty regularly and I am looking forward to coming to your blog and seeing a beautiful baby boy! Good luck with everything.

So exciting. I am praying that this works for you as well as it did with me. Could be tomorrow night, you never know! Keep your spirits up even if it does not work. I promise the baby MUST come out sometime!

Deb, I’ve had the sweeping of the membranes and UGH, it’s not a comfy thing! BUT, it can get things going….. I can’t believe he’s almost here. You must be so excited! I cannot wait to see his beautiful lil face.
