This past week our car has been acting up. Our Cavalier has 316000 kms (close to 200000 miles) on it so I can’t really say that this was a big surprise. Our car has been a huge blessing to us though, we bought it two years ago for $1500, so we definitely have got our moneys worth out of it. My brother was here on the weekend and hooked a computer up to the car to try and figure out what set off the engine light and what it would have to do with the transmission problem. The car can’t shift past 2nd gear while in drive, but we’ve found that it does work when put it into low gear, but we can’t drive too fast or the engine runs too high. We’ve had to travel the last few days no faster than 80kms/h (50mph) on the highways, usually causing a traffic backup behind us. It’s interesting, because I know that in the past if I was one of those people stuck behind me that I’d be uptight and impatient, despite that fact that I have no idea what the circumstances might be. Viewing something from the other side of things is never a bad thing, even in the little circumstances of life. We were worried about our car, it’s our only source of transportation but we have been encouraged by things Deb and I have been reading. Philippians 4 specifically was a chapter that we read and reminded us of so much truth. God will supply our needs! That is fact, it doesn’t say ‘God might supply your needs’, He will! This doesn’t mean that we’ll be getting a new car, I don’t’ know what He’s going to do, but whatever He does do is what we need and is His perfect plan for us. In Phil. 4 Paul describes how he can live with much or live with little, live with a full stomach and live with an empty stomach - how? Because of strength that comes only from Christ.

I love that scripture!
We sing the song Jehovah Jireh in church often..
Jehovah Jireh my provider
His grace is sufficient for me
For me, for me
Jehovah Jireh my provider
His grace is sufficient for me
The Lord shall provide all my needs
According to His riches in Glory
The Lord shall provide Himself a lamb for sacrifice
Jehovah Jireh takes care of me
Of me, of me
It always reminds me to cast my burdens on him, he will supply my needs. :)
