Live Eagle Cam

A couple of days ago we were reading our friend Jannah’s blog. Jannah wrote a post about this live eagle cam that she had found, so we checked it out. There is a continuous live video feed from an eagle’s nest on Hornby Island just off of the BC coast. The eagles are wild nor are they banded. A mating pair occupy the nest and have for 19 years. They are currently taking care of two eggs that will hatch on April 26th and 30th. It’s a lot of fun to watch, we often just leave it running while we’re doing other things around the house. The crows and ravens that live in the area like to eat eagle’s eggs and you can often hear the evil cry of the fiendish ravens. These eagles have become pretty popular, they’ve gone from an average of 98 viewers at any one time (in March) to an average of 4500 viewers at any one time. The site now gets 30 million hits a day. The feed is usually pretty smooth but at busy times of the day it’s choppy, they say on the site that they are going to be working on the servers to handle the new load. Check it out, it’s a lot of fun, and strangely addictive:
