Building : Day One

We completed our first day of building… wow! It was a long day, 14 and a half hours of work in total, but it went surprisingly fast. We started at 6:00am laying out where all of our poles would go, we then organized and started to dig holes for our vertical poles. I felt like I started the day off on the wrong foot because in the first post hole I dug all I got were roots! And I mean big roots. My first hole took around an hour and a half. While I dug that one Debra dug most of the other holes for our vertical poles. Thankfully things went a lot more smooth after that, we look at pictures of what we accomplished today and we are amazed! We got the basic frame of the building done and we will be ready to put rafters on bright and early tomorrow morning. Poor Canaan was the first to get a mosquito bite and he was the one with a mosquito net! He also got a black fly bite and has a scab on his head from that. Debra got the first war wound when a flying chunk of wood hit her in the arm, within seconds it started to bruise. Time to get some rest, we have another early morning ahead of us – please continue to pray for physical endurance for us, it is exciting, but also very exhausting. We’ve been looking forward to this for years and are enjoying every moment of it.
