Today marks our third full day here in Jungle Camp. The isolation hasn’t hit us yet, but we’ve heard that it does a couple of weeks into it. Today it seemed like our house of poles and plastic finally became a home: the table is in, the kitchen is setup, the bedroom carpeted and half of the halogen lights are up. Today Jim and I went in search of good firewood, but not just any wood will do. If we burn to much soft wood such as cedar our chimney pipes could quickly become clogged. We found two big black cherry trees which we quickly chopped down and took home. Searching for wood can sometimes take a while because we can only use dead trees. We also did our first load of laundry using the tub and agitator that Jim and I built. It seemed so far removed from real life using a hand washer and rinser, but it was a lot of fun. We’re taking lots of pictures and will have plenty to post when we get home. Will write soon!!
