Independent Studies

One facet of jungle camp that we haven’t talked about yet is independent studies. Jungle Camp is meant to help train us for life overseas, but when we get over there we won’t just be living, we will also have a job to do, that is why we will go! For independent studies we were given a booklet that covers a variety of topics from the bible. It is a study guide and we’ll be using it to study 6 hours a day. That may or may not seem like a lot, but throw it in to the mix with everything else it takes to live here (everything like cooking, laundry, etc takes longer) and our day is quickly filled. Yesterday was our first day and we studied what the proverbs have to say about “the tongue”. It was very clear how destructive careless words are and the importance of careful thought out words:

Proverbs 12:18 “Reckless words pierce like sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”

Proverbs 21:23 “He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from trouble.”

Hope you are all having a great start to your summer, we look forward to seeing many of you soon!
