Family BBQ

Next Friday my sister Dana is getting married and so we got together yesterday as a family for a BBQ. It was a good chance to get to know her fiance Colin a little better and have a good time. Plenty of horseshoe games ensued as well as a few rounds with the spud gun. Ken has been working to perfect his potato shooting and gave us quite the show! We tried a cob of corn in it and it worked beautifully. Sometime soon we’re going to document the process and make a little video about it. It was great to see aunts and uncles and grandparents whom I haven’t seen in ages. My mom and dad were obviously ecstatic to see Canaan after his journey to California and back. Today I went back to Shelburne for church and afterward attended a meeting with the Church leadership. They wanted a report about our future plans and needs, it went well and we’re excited to hear about their desire to support us. It’s very nice to know that our home churches care about us and back us through prayer, encouragement and finances. This week all of our first year students will be arriving from all over North America. Each of the second year families will be hosting a family: showing them around and answering any questions they may have about the campus. We’re hosting the Reece family who arrived today with their four small children, it was great to get to know them and we look forward to meeting the other new students.

Wow! So family oriented! It’s weird because you seem totally alright with it. I’m guessing your family isn’t crazy/dysfunctional/alcoholic.
