A Cultural Experience

On Friday night we thought that we’d take Jon Coe to a local cultural event - a hockey game! Another reason for going was that my home team, the Shelburne Muskies were playing the local Durham Thundercats. It was an entertaining game to say the least, at least 8 guys were kicked out of the game and the penalty boxes were usually over flowing. At some points the players would just drop their gloves as soon as the puck was dropped! Also fun was listening to some of the others around us as they cheered and yelled at the players and the ref. I’m pretty sure that if I was a ref in that game I’d fear for my life afterwards. The Muskies came up with a lead quickly in the first period and kept it for the rest of the game. The score ended up 5-1 for the Muskies. I couldn’t cheer too loud, I was surrounded by violent Thundercat fans. Matt Gunther who was there with us threatened to turn me over to them. Yikes!
