Canaan - now dual

Yesterday we took a trip to Toronto with the Kanes to register Canaan and Gwen as American citizens. The U.S. Consulate only registers new births between 8:30 and 11:30 and so with a three hour drive to get there it was definitely an early morning. We battled morning traffic into Toronto and after finding a decently close parking lot we finally made it around 10am. Once we got there we one problem though, they wouldn’t let us bring any electronics into the consulate. Kane and I had our cameras with us and they wouldn’t hold them for us either. The two of us took off running for the car, we had to get back quick because we had to be there with Ruth and Debra to register the kids. We took off for the car out the back of the consulate heading in the direction we though the car was. It wasn’t long before we realized that we had no idea where the car was. 11:30 was drawing near and after more frantic searching and back tracking we found our vehicle. We jumped in and drove over to the consulate and parked in a parking garage that happened to be right next to the consulate (we had failed to see that one on the way in). Everything went smooth from there on in though, Canaan and Gwen soon become citizens and their SSN cards and passports will soon be here. It was a long tiring day but nevertheless a fun experience. We will likely have to do this again in a couple of years so this was great practice!
