Scott Mission

Yesterday all of the guys in the second year course had the opportunity to travel to Scott Mission in Toronto and work serving the homeless. Having grown up in rural Ontario it was quite the reminder of the hardships that exist and also of the fact that there are things that we, or anyone, can do to help. The night before we left I came across this post by Brett Maxwell that for me kind of set the tone for the day. We split up into two groups, half of us helped in the kitchen serving those who came for a meal and the other half went down to work in the distribution centre where they got food donations ready to give out to those in need. It was a reminder of how much I take for granted as well as how important it is to practically live it out the love of Christ to those around us. We ended up driving three times as long as we actually worked but I think that it was well worth it. This is my second time to Toronto in a week after going last week to get Canaan’s American citizenship. I’ve enjoyed both trips despite the early mornings :o)
