These are our new pets… two little Chinese Fire Belly Newts. That is where their names come from. Norm was showing Canaan our new little pets and said these are newts, not to be confused with nudes…. Hence the names Naked and Not Ashamed!

They are cute little critters. Norm had some newts when we was younger and has wanted some for a while now. We recently gave our gerbils away since we were moving and then Norm gave he beta (Alpha the beta) to his sister. He actually asked her to babysit it and she became attached to it and it became her salons new mascot. Alpha now has a new name. His name is Red since Dana’s salon is named Shaded Red!

Back to the newts… We were driving to the university one day and saw a building with animals painted on it. Norm said I wonder if that is a pet store. Apparently the name means domestic wildlife. So we went in a few days ago and were amazed. This was the coolest pet store we had ever been to. It was like a pet store and a zoo mixed. They had a some incredible exhibits including a monkey of some sort. It was apparently rescued from the circus. There were news articles pinned up beside his exhibit, but of course they were in French. So after touring the zoo/pet store we didn’t think that they had any fire bellied newts and were going to get a fire bellied frog instead. But Norm was determined. He went looking for one of the employees and through the language barrier and a few minutes of discussion they found two newts! YEAH! We are pretty excited about some new pets to keep us company! Sure helps me when Norm is at the University!

On this day..
