«Ma Ville»

School work has been insane this last week causing a few less blog posts than usual, but I thought that I would at least write about what’s causing our busyness.  A few weeks ago we were given the details of our final presentation that is due in December.  The presentation is called «Ma Ville» which means ‘My City’.  It is pretty open ended, I just have to do a 15 minute presentation on a city of my choice.  The catch though is that it needs to be interactive: I have to ask questions and also be able to answer them.  With a lot of work I could come up with my speech in French and then memorize or read from cards but the interaction is what makes it difficult.  It will eat up time quickly because normally when I’m asked questions in French I usually have to pause to formulate a response.  Though it is a lot of work to put together what I want to communicate I’m excited because this is a great way to use what I have learned and to stretch my abilities and limits.  And what city did I choose?  Conakry, the capital of Guinea.  It is my future home and also a city that I recently visited.  I have plenty of pictures and video that I can use during the presentation.

This evening we spent a few hours at Starbucks studying and working on various assignments.  A friend of ours babysat and we had a few wonderful hours to ourselves.  Even though we working studying we considered it a date - we hadn’t gone on one of those in far too long!  The snow continues to fly and the temperature seems to get more bitter each day.  A picture of Debra’s from the previous post was recently used in a news article about our snow storm, check it out!

Our Christmas break is coming fast, we can’t wait to see you all!

On this day..
