Relax (and recuperate)

Canaan & GrandpaI wrote almost a week ago about about Debra’s sore throat and I’m glad to say that she’s finally starting to feel better. It got pretty bad and I didn’t hear a word out of her for days. What she needed was plain old rest. But as most of you can relate to plain old rest is sometimes hard (if not impossible) to get. Over the course of our training with New Tribes and now our French classes in Québec, breaks and vacations aren’t technically breaks. They are usually filled with presentations and correspondence. Don’t get us wrong, we do enjoy preparing for and doing our presentations but this Christmas, our break has been unique. I’ve actually been able to rest! Debra though is just now beginning to be able to rest. Recuperating and relaxing are two very distinct things. Aside from a few minutes in our small group at church and a message next month in Ontario we haven’t had any projects or any presentations which I know has been the Lord giving Debra a chance to heal and recuperate. I am thankful that God knew exactly what we needed and provided family to watch Canaan while I helped Debra as much as possible.

Now that she is beginning to improve we have had to hustle Canaan & Grandpa to get all of our Christmas shopping done. Even family things like the Christmas tree had been postponed and just now are being completed. Canaan has had the time of his life playing with his California grandparents. He never leaves the side (or arms) of his grandpa and always wants to be doing what grandpa is doing.

We still have a week here in California before heading off to Ontario to spend time with the other side of the family. Hope and pray you are all having a spectacular Christmas!

On this day..
