Québec Winter Carnival

creepy dudeToday the Québec winter carnival begins amongst the flurries of snow.  The Québec winter carnival is the biggest winter carnival in the world with close to 1 million participants each year.  We are excited to enjoy some of the countless activities over the next couple of weeks.  Some of the attractions and events include a giant ice castle, an ice sculpture contest, dog sled races, a canoe race across the St.Lawrence river (a grueling task since much of it is frozen!) and much more.  My brother, brother-in-law and friend are coming up next week and we are looking forward to taking them to some of the events.  It’s been very interesting seeing how important winter is in the culture of Québec, so much more so than in Ontario.  We’ll have lots more to share as the two week carnival progresses!

On this day..
