Nearly every week I have an essay to write on various subjects. The idea is to utilize the new concept that we had been learning throughout the week. This week we had been learning CODs, COIs and the adverbial pronouns Y and EN (click on them if you are bored or want to know what they are) and so I tried to use them as much as possible in my essay. The topic this week was ‘timidité’, the teacher wanted us to write about a time in our lives when we were timid or nervous. I chose to write about the time that I asked Debra’s dad for permission to ask Debra to marry me. Even though I was quite confident I’d receive the answer I was looking for I was still nervous. Embedded below is my essay, I haven’t received it back from the teacher to find out how I’ve done, but hopefully soon. By the way, if you happen to throw it into an automatic translator don’t be surprised if it is really hard to understand, most autmatic translators don’t do a very good job with grammar. Over the last few months I’ve developed an appreciation for how hard it would be to program a set of rules for an automatic translator. Anyways, here is the essay:

Great Essay! I only understand a few of the ‘words’ but I know how it feels asking Dad(in-law)!
We hope language continues to go well. Write when you can.
