A Motherly Visit

Mom & Dana We have a visitor this week, my mom!  She caught the train in Ontario and 10 hours later she walked through our door here in Québec!  It is a very non stressful visit for us - she doesn’t want to sight-see or anything like that, she just wants to spend time with Canaan!  This has helped a lot as Debra tries to recuperate from a horrendous sinus infection (while dealing with bad morning sickness) and I try to handle a lot of homework and other responsibilities.  She is here until Monday and we will miss her once she goes!  Canaan has just adored being with her and is getting good at saying ‘grandma!’

In case you are wondering, we did have our doctor’s appointment this past Wednesday.  It went reasonably well.  The doctor though was very behind, and could speak English.  So, she didn’t really want to spend the time practicing our French with us.  Normally we’d be a bit bummed but under the circumstances we were in, we didn’t mind.  In short, she agreed with us that Debra does not have hydronephrosis like our previous doctor thought.  This doctor thinks that it is a damaged muscle in Debra’s side.  She said that it needs to be rubbed and massaged to help it as it stretches.  We were a bit skeptical because during the last pregnancy I massaged Debra’s back a half hour every night and it didn’t help.  We told the doctor this and she said that it was because once it is over stretched and that bad pain has set in, there is no helping it.  The massaging has to be preventive.  We sure hope that she is right.  The only thing that we didn’t like was that she came to that judgement just as quickly as the doctor who had diagnosed Deb’s problem as hydronephrosis.  We shall see.  She also gave us a prescription for Deb’s sinus infection (which has been going on for the past month with no sign of stopping) and also for diclectin which helps with morning sickness.  It has been very difficult for Debra, please continue to pray for her.  At this point she’d be more than happy to just deal with morning sickness, the sinus infection has been killer.

Tell MOM I said hey… praying for your preventative massaging, and that it proves to be preventative… otherwise your hands are just sore and Debra gets a free massage. Well, I guess that’s not all that bad. see ya.

it sounds like things are going better! That’s awesome that your mom came for a visit. It seems like the timing couldn’t be better! I hope the preventative massages go as planned. When is the due date?
