Canaan’s ‘Pet’
We have a little aquarium set up that Canaan just adores to sit and watch. Inside there is a newt, and you can often hear Canaan calling out, ‘newt! newt! where’d it go?’ Last week our friend Kris brought Canaan some fun bath soap and inside the soap was a plastic lizard. Though it is definitely a lizard Canaan was convinced that it was another newt and he was very thrilled at the prospect of having his own. Debra put the ‘newt’ in a water bottle and Canaan happily carried it around all day frequently reminding us that there is indeed a newt inside his water bottle. It was fun to watch him play though I was reminded of what would happen to the real newt if Canaan ever got his hands on it. Thanks for the ‘newt’ Kris!

i can almost hear him now… repeating “newt, newt” over and over again very proudly… much the same as “bus, bus” when i was over… good idea with the water bottle!

That is so cute, but glad it is plastic. Norm I remember what you did to your first “pet” It was an earth worm… You tore the poor worm into about 8 pieces. You said you wanted lots of pets.
