Today Canaan went pee in the potty! Yeah!!! He is very proud of himself and we are so happy! We are so glad that he is ready to start trying out the potty. The last time we tried to encourage using the potty Canaan would not sit on the potty for one second. He was very interested but wouldn’t sit. Now he is quite into it. Please pray for us as we give this a shot… we are first timers here. We would love to hear your potty training stories, advice, tips and tricks! Please leave a comment!!

Congratulations! Praise him, call the grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, good friends and let him hear you praise him, and they can tell him how proud they are of his accomplishment. Then be patient. Really, really, really patient. Each child is unique and makes progress in their own way. One of my daughters was so interested in using the potty way before her twin was, yet they both were wearing big girl panties all day right around the same time.
That’s great It’s neat when they get soo proud. I have to echo the BE PATIENT from a above training is definitely a process with many proud accomplishments along the way. I’ve started training later with each of my boys and they were all fully trained about the exact same time. Levi is mostly day trained around the house now but I still have to remember to take him and I wouldn’t take him out yet without a diaper - we will get there. It took me 4-6 mths from the time they first went on the potty until they were fully day/night trained. Good Luck -
Have fun with it. - He’ll probably be close to trained when the next one comes - YEAH!!
Patience is definitely a must. I find that if you can make it fun….make up silly potty songs and stuff, then it’s more interesting….Good luck! We’re working on this with Brennen too!
when we started getting serious about it with RAchel we put underwear on her and never went back to diapers (except for nighttime as I didn’t want to do laundry everyday!=)). We never really did the pull up thing. For 2 full weeks we took RAchel to the potty every 30 minutes just so that she could get used to the feeling and if she went she got a smartie. If she didn’t go we still praised her for trying. AFter about 4 days, she knew what the sensation was like and began to say “I pee”. Again, patience and praise is the best but so is CONSISTENCY. It’s hard especially when you want to go out somewhere, but encouraging him to go in public places just reinforces it.
Good luck
sorry that last comment was from me but for some reason stated anonymous. Oh well, i’m sure you figured it out when I was talking about Rachel…
Gideon’s almost 2 1/2 — and I have NO idea how to potty train a boy. Girls were SO much easier!!!!!!!!
Let me know if you find any key to bribing or encouraging your little man!
