Next Spring we will be shipping our belongings and supplies to Africa. It’s a huge task! Almost everything we need for our first four year term will need to be brought over ahead of time, this is because there is little to no industry in Guinea. Before shipping we have to find a special fridge, stove and freezer that will run on the power system that we will be using in Guinea. They will be bought in North America and be added to our shipment. Our shipment will be put into a large ISO container and sent from the East Coast of the States to Guinea.
Shipping the container to Guinea will be an expensive task, possibly around $5000 not to mention the cost of getting our belongings through customs once it arrives in Guinea. A couple of months ago my brother Ken came up with a good way to raise funds for the shipment!
Later this month, Ken and his friend Brendan will be biking 200kms (125 miles) through Southern Ontario. You can sponsor Ken and Brendan per km or mile and all proceeds will go towards the cost of our shipment! August 30th is the planned date for Ken and Brendan’s trip.
On the day of the event we will be giving constant live updates about their progress. Real-time tracking is still in the works which will be put on a map online.

Great idea! I really hope this goes well and helps you get everything to Africa. Hmmm, that gives me an idea…I wonder if I could do something similar but with a Pacific Crest Trail backbacking trip!
