Today was a strange day. For months we and a group of others from our church have been preparing a Kids Day called SonWorld adventure park. It was similar to a Vacation Bible School but just for one afternoon. We did a lot of promotion, particularly last weekend at the Shelburne fall fair. We gave out over 200 flyers and talked to many parents who seemed very interested. We were all very excited and really had no idea how many kids would show. We wondered if we would be able to fit them all in our small church. Today was the day for the event and we arrived early to set up and do some last minute decorating. We were all excited and maybe a bit nervous having no idea how many kids would come. 1pm was our starting time and we were finally ready. 1pm arrived. No one had arrived yet, and we weren’t terribly surprised. But by 1:15 were starting to worry and were awfully surprised! Not long after that Mary went to a house nearby and found two boys who said that they would come. Needless to say we were all initially pretty disappointed. I’m sure we all asked God at some point today why only two kids came for our afternoon after all of our hard work. In the end, we all had to trust the results to God. He knew who would (or wouldn’t) show up and yet He definitely led us all to prepare for SonWorld. We ended up having a great time. There were the two boys as well as a few kids of the adults from the church. We sang together, played games, had snacks and did a little craft. The boys seemed to have a blast and we spent the afternoon laughing. If just one of those boys gets a chance to hear about God and believes in Jesus it would be worth it! Maybe God just planned the afternoon to teach us something. I know I did. At the end of the day I just have to thank the Lord for everything that happened!
