SURPRISE!

After months of whispered secrets and careful planning we were able to spring our surprise on Debra’s dad!  Today is his birthday and for this special event we secretly made our way to California and this morning he was woken up by Canaan!  He was shocked to say the least.  Very few people down here in California knew we were coming and we had to be careful during the last few months to not unwittingly post the secret on our blog, facebook or twitter.  Debra, Kathleen and mom came up with the idea months ago and since then we’ve been secretly preparing.  On Wednesday we drove to Buffalo and stayed the night.  We got up way too early the next morning (3am) to get to the airport for our flight to Los Angeles.  We arrived around 10am and spent the day at Gregg and Kathleen’s house. The scariest part of the whole day was accidently seeing Dad on the way to Gregg’s!  Debra saw him drive by us and was sure that he had seen but it turns out that he had noticed the Pilot but never noticed who was in it.  We got up around 6:30 this morning and quietly made our way over to Mom and Dad’s house.  Canaan walked into their bedroom and crawled into bed with his Grandpa!  Dad’s first word was ‘What?!’ which I’m sure is a perfect summation of what was going through his mind.  Here are a few pictures of our surprise moments.  Hope Dad doesn’t mind his bed head being displayed but I have to put them up :)
