sigh, more paperwork
Debra had a citizenship hearing this morning before a judge to determine whether or not she will be allowed to be sworn in as a Canadian citizen. The results were a little frustrating though not as bad as they could have been. In short, the judge said neither yes nor no. He asked for more paperwork; tax records, bank records and the like. I spent half of the day rounding those things up so that we can send it in first thing tomorrow. We thank you for your prayers throughout this. I was praying the entire time Deb was in the hearing. Was I disappointed initially? Yep. Sure was. But God quickly reminded me that he did indeed answer my prayer, just not the way I wanted. My prayers aren’t consider ‘answered’ only when I get what I want. God is asking us to trust Him because He knows the outcome and wants us to learn and grow and glorify Him more in the situation.Â
I’m not sure what will happen now. The judge may approve everything once he goes over our documents and send us notice to appear for the ceremony or he could ask Debra to come in for another hearing before the ceremony. Of course there is the worst case scenario where he’d say no. But I know that God knows, I’ve had to grapple with that today but I’ve been encouraged. Pray also that Deb will be encouraged, she’s had a long trip. She hasn’t had a lot of sleep, Emmaus hasn’t been sleeping well since she left and I’m sure the hearing was stressful for her.
The good news? She’ll be home soon!

That is frusterating! Here is hoping when they get the additional paper work, it will be a quick process to get a “Yes!”
yea, I really hope so. We know she’ll have to get up for at least one more trip if not more. We shall see…
