Exactly Five Years Later
Debra and I were married on April 3rd, 2004. We had a week long honeymoon and then spent about a week packing up her belongings before heading up to Canada. We arrived at our little farm house in rural Ontario on April 14th. Not long after that we took the first step on the long road to citizenship by applying for permanent residency. Who could have known that exactly five years later, on April 14th 2009, she would receive her citizenship? The timing just reminds me of God’s control and faithfulness. There were around 44 people at the ceremony representing 22 nations from around the world, Debra was the only American being sworn in as a new Canadian. We can now all travel together as Canadians and receive the same benefits of that citizenship. With our many travels as missionaries, paperwork will be less complicated and Debra will not have to return to Canada every few years to renew her resident status. Thank you so much for your prayers and well wishes during all of that time.
