Notre Maison à Conakry (our house in Conakry)

Yesterday afternoon we received a really interesting email. It contained pictures and information about our new home in Conakry,  Guinea as well as our host family. We knew they were in the process of looking for a home and hosts but we had thought that it was weeks away. It was very exciting to get some details and a picture in our minds of what our home will be like. It also makes packing slightly easier as we can visualize what we might need and how things will be arranged. There are a few neat things about it that made us particularly excited and thankful to the Lord. First off, it has 24/7 water service! As far as we knew this was pretty well unheard of in Conakry. And while it isn’t set in stone, we have heard that our rent may be as low as $70 per month. Not too bad! It is a certainly a blessing as other aspects of living in Conakry can be expensive (food, generator, etc.). We will live a 3 minute walk from a church that we will attend and a 10 minute walk from a main road where we can catch a taxi.

Every new missionary to Guinea receives a Guinean host family that they will rely on to learn how to live in Guinea. Our host couple is Samuel and Charlotte Kondano. Samuel is a pastor of the church I mentioned. We are looking forward to getting to know them better and building a strong friendship. Here is a picture of Samuel and Charlotte:

Below are some pictures our new home and neighbourhood in Conakry. We look forward to making it home and diving into our life and ministry in Guinea. If you have any questions, please post them in the comments and we’ll be sure to answer quickly! Thank you again for your prayers as we continue our journey and go through the millions of tasks necessary to get our family to Guinea. We hope to buy tickets very soon and appreciate your prayers on that as well.

On this day..
