God is in control! That is our comfort!
ALL WE CAN DO IS PRAISE GOD!
We have been having a whirlwind of a day! A roller coaster for sure! As you know we have been busily packing up our supplies for Africa! The due date was set at June 12th so we had to ship all of our stuff out today so that it would get there in time! We were so relieved when we finished getting it all ready late last night! It was like a weight off our shoulders knowing that the next morning we were loading it on some pick up trucks and driving it to the trucking company and then we were done! So wonderful! So this morning, Norm, Kathleen and our friend John loaded all the boxes and tubs onto two pickup trucks! It fit perfectly! Just as they put on the last box suddenly, pretty much out of no where, it starts POURING! Now, normally this wouldn’t be weird, but this is Southern California where it never rains! And when it does it is pretty little! Well, Norm and Kathleen start to panic because we have NOTHING to cover it all with! So they both hop into the trucks and drive as fast as they can across town to Kathleen’s house to try to cover it! Mom met us there with tarps. It was a truly heartbreaking hour as we watched all our earthly belongings sitting out in the pouring rain! After over a week of nearly sleepless nights and it all culminated to this! It was so amazing knowing that GOD IS IN CONTROL OF RAIN! He knew exactly when it would rain!
Well, we called the shipping company and asked if we could possibly delay the shipment until Monday so that we could unload it all and dry it off and air it out. They said that that would be fine and they would make sure it would get onto the shipment to Guinea. So we then unloaded it all into Kathleen’s garage and did our best at drying it off and airing it out. We then decided that the weather report looked somewhat in our favor… only 50% chance of rain! So we had lunch and then loaded it all back up onto the trucks and covered them very securely with tarps. Then of course it started raining again… but this time more in California fashion… just spitting rain.
Then, very excitingly Norm, Canaan and Kathleen took off for the hour long drive to the trucking company! Yeah! All of our stuff will be dropped off today and shipped to Missouri!
As soon as they left, I sat down to check the email! And the first thing I saw was an email from our shipping company in Missouri… I thought I should check it out, pronto! =) And they sent the email to tell us that the boat our stuff is headed to on the East Coast had taken off EARLY! So there will be no shipment! Our stuff will now be going onto the next shipment next month! WOW! God is in control and I am soooooo glad for that fact! Because if we didn’t have HIM to rely on, we would be so stinking frustrated right now. But I have to tell you… all we feel is PEACE! The precious peace that passes all understanding!
Please pray for us after this last exhausting week! We are now going to go about the task of moving out of our apartment! We packed everything up that is going to Guinea with us… but about half the apartment is still full of stuff that we have been borrowing or will be storing here for future furloughs!
On another note… my Grandpa John is in the hospital again! Please pray for health and speedy recovery!
