5 Days… Unexpected Detours

Today did not feel like one of my most productive days, mostly due to events out of our control. I spent the morning writing emails and working on our website. After lunch with the family (In’n'out of course), we had all sorts of little errands planned but Wells Fargo had other ideas. Debra’s mom has a bank account that actually started out as Debra’s when Debra was in high school. Debra has always had her name on the account but it was in her maiden name until this past January when we changed it to Copeland. So we’ve been the account since January with no issues… until today. Debra went in to cash some cheques but was refused because they said the name on the account was Debra Rutledge! Some how, the name on her account went back to her maiden with out any indication why. We went into the bank together and found an employee that we’ve met with a few times. It took a while but she sorted it out. When Debra had provided our marriage license as proof back in January, the branch took a photocopy and sent it onto the main office. Somewhere between the branch and the main office it fell between the cracks. In stead of asking for it again they just waited six months and then switched the name back.

The Lord really worked on me with this situation. It normally wouldn’t have been a big deal but right now, we really don’t have two hours to spare! I kept thinking of other things I could be doing or should be doing. God used the situation and my impatience to show me a few things about Himself.

It’s been a busy week but we were finally able to all celebrate Debra’s birthday together. At least once every visit to California we all eat at a restaurant called ‘Wood Ranch’, and this visit was no exception. Debra received her free sundae and the waitress was nice enough to give Canaan his own as well!

Tomorrow we hope to find the large containers that we want to put our checked baggage into. We really would like to get Rubbermaid Actionpackers but they are proving difficult to find. We did find some potential alternatives but we’ll have to see how they measure up.

Remember, this Sunday at 6pm PST / 9pm EST we wil be having our live web Q&A session on our website at http://www.copelandrdamblings.com

On this day..
