Malaria

As many of you likely know from facebook, it’s been confrimed via blood tests that Deb, Canaan and Emmaus have malaria along with a host of other parasites yet to be named. We will be going back in to the clinic tomorrow to try and figure out what other parasites are present. Debra and Emmaus are also anemic which was caused by the malaria.

We got up early this morning and headed out to a clinic to try and figure out what was going on. There was a lot of waiting around this morning, but after finally seeing the doctor a couple of times and getting blood drawn at the lab we had the results. We were actually a bit surprised. We were beginning to think we had a virus that is going around some of the families in our mission. The parasites could come from anywhere: water, food, etc. We started everyone on their meds when we returned home but unfortunately five minutes later Emmaus threw it all up. We will try again this evening.

We REALLY appreciate your prayers, we have received so many emails and comments wishing us well and giving us encouragement. We couldn’t be here with out all of you! We thank God often for such an amazing support team.

We will continue to keep you up to date on our health and progress through our first few months in Guinea.

On this day..
