Deb and I went for another can collecting walk this morning and hit the jackpot, we found about 110 cans! Along with our stash at home we got about $26! We’re using it tonight to go and see ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’. I’ve read the book and have really wanted to see it. Debra also is excited to see it. We’ll let you know how it is….

Youth Group, the End of the World and Dutch Blitz

Last night Deb and I had the youth group over to our house. Debra set up some great snacks and I spoke. I spoke on the End Times and we had a great discussion about the many aspects of it. It was a lot of fun to talk about, exciting to study God’s final plan for everything. James 4:14 describes our short lives as vapors, especially when compared to eternity! What we do here effects not only our eternity, but also the eternity of others. Afterwards we played some rowdy games of Dutch Blitz. To see what we were studying, you can download our End of the World timeline from the sidebar

Tortoise and Hare settling in

We got an email from the family that adopted our turtles, Tortoise and Hare. They are apparently doing great and becoming celebrities in their neighborhood. I always knew they’d be celebrities one day. Hare is very photogenic. The paparazzi better keep away…

Mother’s day is coming! Debra, Dana, Ken and I all have gone in together on mom’s gift this year. Much better than that one year we all forgot… but lets not get into that. For obvious reasons, we can’t yet disclose what this gift is, but we’ll definately post after sunday about it! Hey mom, itching to know what it is? muahahahahaha

The Gerbil Babies are all doing well. They are so big now and extremely active. Its precious to see them mimicing their parents. They still go to mommy occasionally to partake in the “milk bar” but are almost completely independent now! Oh they grow up so fast. We are so excited for the next group to come along! =)

Goodbye Turtles

Deb and I had a good weekend, relaxed but we got a lot done around the house. As a lot of you know, we’ve been looking for a home for our turtles, we can not take them to school with us. A week and a half ago we put an ad in the Super Shopper and we’ve received quite a few calls. We screened them, did some telephone interviews, we really want to find a home where they will be loved and taken care of. A women from Barrie has decided to take them. She was supposed to show up on saturday but ended up not being able to make it. So today’s the day! We’re going to miss them so much, but at the same time it signifies that the time is drawing near to leave this phase of our lives and carry on! We’re excited to see where God will use us in the future.

Chastised in Tim Hortons

Debra and I went into town today to do some shopping and thought we’d go to Tim Horton’s and get a snack. We entered and found a pretty big line. We found the end of it and joined, no big deal, it always goes fast. We got to the head of the line and waited for the next empty register. The customer at the register to the left moved to the side and the girl working at that register seemed to look at me with a look that I took to say ‘Can I help you?’. So I started to step forward to give her my order. Suddenly out of no where the manager lunges forward and snaps,

‘Get back! Stay back until you are called upon!!’

At first I was confused, I wasn’t sure what I had done to warrant such a remark. Then I couldn’t help but let out a little laugh of surprise. I don’t think that she liked that either. We were very polite with the girl at the register, maybe to make a point that such harshness really isn’t necessary. Maybe if we had jumped over the counter and started trying to get our own order together. Anyways, enough rambling about that, it really didn’t bother me, I just found it more hilarious than anything.

This is our chauffeur…. I mean, our grandpa. Grandpa took granny, Deb and I out for dinner to Swiss Chalet! It was a lot of fun, we hadn’t spent a lot of time with them lately, so it was awesome just to hang out with them. As you can probably see, grandpa’s thumb is all bandaged up, those are his battle wounds, he’s very proud of them, even if they were from a battle with a saw.

A piece of family history

My grandpa came over the other day and gave me this old pocket watch that his dad had given him! It was made in 1907 and was given to my great grandpa Norman Copeland in 1921. Then he gave it to my grandpa, Lindsay Copeland. It’s actually pretty fascinating how it works, they used diamonds on the spokes on the inside so that they wouldn’t wear down. It’s always neat to see a little piece of your family history.
